Grit bins are provided to enable self-help gritting of adopted roads and footways at locations with substantial gradients or bends, which are not on priority footway gritting routes.
You can find your nearest grit bin using our interactivemap
Applications for new grit bins should be made in writing to:
City Engineers Division
City Development Department

Nearly empty Grit Bins should be reported by calling (freephone) 0800 232323 or via the 'Report Grit Bin Faults' online form
