Letter in Exile from Charles II
Dundee's great disaster was the storming and pillage of the town by Cromwell's forces in 1651, from which it took a century to recover. This sad episode is represented, before the siege, by the letter in exile from Charles II to the Town Clerk in 1649, acknowledging the support of the citizens.
