Housing Benefit - Payment Dates for BACS
Information/Service?
If you receive your Housing Benefit payments via BACS please see below for the dates that benefit will be paid into your account. If you receive your Housing Benefit by cheque please follow the link to see the date the cheque will be issued.
Housing Benefit is normally paid 4 weekly, however depending on how long you have been in receipt of benefit, that 4 weekly period can either be 2 weeks in advance and 2 weeks in arrears, or 4 weeks in arrears.
Any claim that has been in payment continuously and at the same address since before 1996 is paid 2 weekly in advance and 2 weekly in arrears and falls under payment run 1.
Any claim in payment after 1996 is paid 4 weekly in arrears and falls under payment run 2.
Where it is not practical for a tenant to wait until the next payment run, for example where benefit is due for a past period, benefit can be paid as an immediate payment.
