Visiting The Tay
During this week the Tay near the Tay Bridge has been covered by great flocks of eider ducks. The ducks may be on migration but if flocks are leaving the river, new flocks keep coming, and passengers in the trains crossing the bridge see thousands of ducks and vast numbers of seagulls, all seemingly engaged in picking up small fish.

Brass Award
The Dundee Trades Band no. 1, won fourth prize in the contest for brass quartettes held by the Angus County Brass Band Association at Brechin on Saturday.

County Contest
Today they will have two teams competing in the Lour Cup Competition at Carnoustie School, when they will battle against teams from all ends of Angus. Tomorrow afternoon the annual class competition for the Kerr Rosebowl is to be held in the St. Stephens Hall, and there is every prospect of their being the usual keen contest for possession of the valuable award.

Historic Pageant
Dundee folk who visited St.Andrews on Saturday to witness the Kate Kennedy procession are asking why Dundee does not run a historic pageant. With a history of stirring times and thrilling adventures, it would not be difficult to plan a splendid spectacular pageant of Dundee interest. The flower show might consider a pageant for a Saturday.

Dundee Artist's Exhibition..
A charming collection of paintings by Mr MacLauchlan Milne, the Dundee artist is at present on view at the Independent Gallery in Grafton Street, London.

There are over 30 studies in landscapes and flower pieces. Mr Milne's work reveals a wide palette and a strong power of suggesting atmosphere. One feels the air and the sun in joyous works like " A Tuscan Landscape" and "St Tropez" both glowing in the happiest of contrasting pigments.

Barnhill Man's Acknowledgement
A cheque for £50 has been received by the treasurer of Dundee Royal Infirmary, being the amount of a bequest to the infirmary by the late Mrs Jean Crabbe, 52 Roods, Kirrriemuir.

Payment has also been received of a like sum from the late Mr Charles D. Sheriff who resided at Seaview, 23, Gordon Street, Barnhill in acknowledgement of a treatment received by testator in the Infirmary.

Dundee Amateur Wireless Association have donated £7 17s 2d to the institute.

Macaroni Apple Dainty
Ever tasted apples and macaroni?..
If not try this pudding and see how good it is.

Take 1lb of apples, 3oz macaroni, sugar to taste, 1 egg, ½ pint milk and the grated rind of ½ lemon. Put in bottom of a greased pie dish. Break macaroni and cook in boiling water until tender then arrange over the apples. Beat the egg, milk, lemon rind and sugar and pour over the macaroni. Bake for 45 minutes.
