year of the frog - 2008
Throughout the year the Wildlife Centre will play host to many frog and amphibian events to link in with this year's European Association of Zoos and Aquarium conservation campaign, The Amphibian Ark, 2008 Year of the Frog. There will be dedicated frog days for fun and discovery, an Urban Jungle summer performance, cultural displays, Creepy Crawly Holiday Fortnight and Community Conservation Day. It will be a fun packed summer jumping with joy.
The problem facing these fantastic animals is that almost half of the world's amphibians are threatened with extinction due to disease, pollution and habitat destruction. The zoo staff at Camperdown are pleased to be involved with this project and helping the frogs of the world.
The aim of these special events is to let visitors know how and why these animals are under threat and what we can do to help them - and to have lots of fun doing it. Download events leaflet.
