Map Collection

The Local History Centre has a large and varied collection of maps and plans, for Dundee and surrounding areas. Many are from the original collection of A.C. Lamb.

If your interest is in place names, family history; old Dundee street names; the location of an old church or school - then the answer to these and many other questions can be found in the Map Collection of the Local Studies Department.

ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPS

Large scale Ordnance Survey maps for Dundee and the surrounding area are a major part of the collection dating from the earliest surveys of 1861 and 1871; 1901; 1922; 1950's through to the most recent digital mapping available (Superplan sheets - Dundee only).

The Godfrey Edition of Old Ordnance Survey Maps 1901/1902 are on sale for £2.10 in the Local Studies Department for the following areas : - Arbroath North, Arbroath South, Brechin, Broughty Ferry, Dundee West, Dundee East, Dundee South, Forfar, and Montrose.
