R.I.G.H.T.S.

RESPECT:   Children and young people have a right to be treated with respect, dignity and not to be discriminated against in any way.

INCLUSION:   You have a right to be included in all aspects of your life.   You should be included in any plans or decisions made about you.   You have a right to have your views expressed.

GROWTH:   You have a right to services to help you grow or develop physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and educationally.

HEALTH:   You have a right to good quality health care and for those who are looking after you to pay attention to your health needs.

TRUST:   You have a right to earn the trust of all people around you and to have support in forming trusting and honest relationships with adults and young people.

SAFETY:   Arguably, the most important right you have is the right to be safe wherever you are living and in every aspect of your life.
 

The Children's Rights Officer

...is independent from social workers, residential workers, foster carers and all other adults concerned with the care of children and young people.

Responsible to Dundee's Director of Social Work, the Children's Rights Officer champions the rights and responsibilities of children and young people who are or have been looked after by Dundee City Council.
