The task of the Children and Young People's substance misuse sub- group is:
- To work together to achieve better outcomes for children and young
people who misuse alcohol and drugs or whose parents misuse alcohol and
drugs.
- Produce an annual action plan within a 3 year strategy/plan with annual
reviews & updates contributing to the Children's Services
Plan/CYPPC/DAAT/Youth Justice/Child Health Strategy Group
- To prioritise service developments for children and young people in this
area of work and co-ordinate the planning, development and delivery of
effective services.
- To identify areas of unmet need and propose solutions
- To commission and provide training (local and external) for generic and
specialist workers as identified by Task Groups: consider proposals for
practitioners 'skill sharing' (ie action learning): Set quality standards
for training and trainers.
- Bring up-to-date research to the table, commissioning research if
required.
- To advise the DAAT and CYPPC on all relevant local and national
policy/documents/reports
- To improve information-sharing within and between services
The group has two Task Groups working on Children affected by others substabce
misuse and Young People who put themselves at risk through their own behaviour.
The group meets bi-monthly and is currently chaired by Jenni Tocher, Manager,
Strategy and Performance Service, Dundee City Council, Social Work Department. |
