What DD One can do for you!

Each year, DD One, working in partnership with both the public and private sectors, organise and support a range of initiatives to boost trade and visitor numbers, with the aim of developing the city's economic potential. Each initiative is designed to target and attract new business from an ever-increasing geographical area, whilst ensuring that past visitors can find something to tempt them back time and again.

Among the many regular events organised by City Centre Management on behalf of DD One are a series of Farmers', Continental/International, Craft & Produce Markets, Spring into Summer promotions, and annual events such as the German Market/Beer Festival, Shopping Bonanza evening, and the Christmas Light Night - attracting around 25,000 visitors each year, along with co-ordinating the St Andrews Day celebrations for the city centre. Bi-annually CCM undertakes the Eat, Drink and Shop initiative - available leaflet format and on the web.

City Centre Management also administer the city centre street banners (High Street & Murraygate), and co-ordinate the annual Dundee City Centre Retail Awards.

The Dundee Anti-Crime Network office within CCM oversees ongoing work promoting public safety and information through DUNCAN initiatives such as Radiolink, Retail and Evening Economy exclusions, Little and Lost initiative (child safe), Evening Economy and Best Bar None.

City Centre Management also have a dedicated team of staff out on the city centre streets known as the 'City Centre Ambassadors', who offer visitors and the public local information, and undertake city centre house-keeping and reporting.

DD One annually finance a retail survey end November to monitor visitor numbers; produce the Festive Brochure which is distributed to over 140,000 households; and, winter shopping campaign and advertising across Tayside and N. Fife area between mid-October and mid-December. These initiatives are funded in part by membership contributions from local businesses and Dundee City Council - City Development Department. Lorna McKenzie, City Centre Manager, said; "It is far more cost-effective for everyone involved to promote Dundee City Centre as a whole. By pooling resources, we can ensure that each and every initiative receives maximum public exposure, and can maintain the key messages of quality, value and accessibility which benefit all."

In addition to paying members contributions, other city centre businesses can opt to become involved in specific projects, such as the Eat, Drink & Shop; Shopping Bonanza Evening; and, other ad-hoc initiatives co-ordinated by CCM.

At the time of going to press, businesses who have contributed to DD One for 2010-11 include:
