Policy and Europe

The Policy and Europe section has a varied remit that includes the following areas of responsibility:

Policy and Strategy Development

Leading on the development of policy for the Economic Development Division including responsibility for production of the Economic Development Plan 2008-2011
Contributing to Council and Dundee Partnership policy development including the Single Outcome Agreement for Dundee.
Facilitating strategy development through the Dundee Partnership Work and Enterprise Group.
Contributing to development of the departmental service plan.
Lobbying Central Government and the Scottish Government and responding to consultation documents.

Employment Support

Management of the Dundee European Programme.
Significant contribution towards the management and delivery of the Dundee Employability Programme.

External Funding

Securing external funding for the Council. Co-ordinating role in all European funding applications including to the European Social Fund (ESF) and European Regional Development Fund. (ERDF)
Coordinating lottery application bids
Assisting local organisations to secure funding through the delivery of funding fairs and the provision of Funding 4 Dundee, an online grant search facility.

Economic Intelligence

Provision of economic and labour market intelligence service to corporate and external customers, including production of Dundee Economic Profile
Undertaking annual company survey and producing Dundee Business Directory

European Liaison

Development of Corporate and European Policy
Coordination of Council's involvement in trans-national partnerships

Infrastructure

Management of infrastructure reviews e.g. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
Liaison with Dundee Airport

E-Zone (Enterprise Zone)

Business start-up support
Kickstart Grant to help with start-up costs
Practical assistance with business planning
Extensive network of support organisations
Support to new and established social enterprises
