The system has been set up in a "user friendly" way to ensure that only relevant forms are made available. In the event of uncertainty you can input the type of development you are proposing from drop down menus and the relevant form will be automatically selected.

The system has also been setup to enable comments on new planning, listed building and advertisement applications to be submitted via email to the case officer.

These developments are part of the Councils commitment to developing its e-planning service as part of the Scottish Government's e-Planning Compact. This strategy outlines agreed aspirations and timescales for delivering an effective e-planning service. The key aims are:

  • To enable people to get involved in planning
  • To increase openness, efficiency and effectiveness
  • To arrange for the delivery of Planning Services to meet the citizens' needs.

Providing effective and efficient public services are equally applicable to Building Control Services. Further information on the Building Control function is available at the Scottish Association of Buildings Standards Managers website.

Future developments, expanding the range of electronic services, will include the submission of planning and building warrant applications electronically and enabling customers to view entire applications online. This will allow customers to carry out the majority of enquiries they currently undertake at the council offices from remote locations.

It is hoped that these services will be used extensively and will provide valuable information in an easily understood, user friendly way. Such innovations demonstrate the council's commitment to providing efficient, effective and more inclusive services to the benefit of all users.

If you are unsure of the nature of your application, or have any Planning related queries please contact the Planning and Transportation Department for assistance. Tel (01382) 433022.
