Dundee Focus on Alcohol

Dundee Focus on Alcohol (FOA) works in partnership with local communities and organisations to promote responsible attitudes to alcohol.

Dundee Focus on Alcohol was officially launched in September 2011 as a partnership response to the negative impact of alcohol use in Dundee. Funding for the Dundee Focus on Alcohol initiative is provided by the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership and the aim is to develop a specific and focused approach to alcohol misuse, tailor-made for Dundee.

Some of the actions achieved so far by Dundee Focus on Alcohol:

Production of 10,000 Alcohol Unit Measuring cups to be distributed across the City.
A Guide to Alcohol Information and Services in Dundee.
Engagement and Consultation with Communities to support their solutions to tackle Alcohol misuse in their ward.
A Logo that represents Dundee FOA, designed by Dundee Secondary School Pupils.
Provided funding for two Sessional Workers who identify and work with young people drinking in public.
Creating a Facebook page which offers advice and information on alcohol and provides a forum for people to discuss any issues around alcohol.
Contributing to work being done to identify Overprovision of Licensed Premises across the City.
Part funding the development of a Peer Education Alcohol and Media Project which will be delivered in 14 primary schools across Dundee.

Future Campaigns include:

A 'Festive Focus on Alcohol' over the Christmas Period.
'Happy New You!' which will run in the New Year.
A Campaign that will highlight the illegality of buying Alcohol for young people.
Adults drinking alcohol excessively in the home.
