Centre Programme

For full details of our programme, visit the 'regular activities' area of this website.

Centre-based Children / Youth Work

Within the Centre programme, there is a wide variety of learning activities for both children and young people. For pre-school we have the Toddle Tots. Primary school-aged activities include gymnastics, KidZone, cheerleading, Dance Advance, football coaching (YSDP), judo and karate. Both these martial arts are also available for older youths alongside our youth clubs and job shop.

Centre-based Adult Learning

The Centre has a wide and diverse programme of opportunities for adults.  If you want to learn about computers, we have a variety of classes available.  Dundee Healthy Living Initiative (DHLI) supports various groups such as men's health, relaxation, city-wide health issues, art, and the Kirkton Walkers. There are also further art groups such as ceramic painting and the Roly Poly Group (card making). Other groups include history, a women's group, judo, sequence dancing and karate.

Local Management Group

The Local Management Group plays an important role in supporting and developing the Centre Programme. The 'Young@Heart' group and the tai-chi classes, both aimed at the 50+ age group, the local Community Newspaper (Kirkton Khronicle), the Kirkton Felters, the Cardio combat classes, Decoupage and the Kirkton Kids school holiday programme are all supported by the Management Group. As it is a Registered Charity, the trustees have been involved in a host of learning opportunities, such as Roles and Responsibilities, Cooksafe, Finance, Report Writing, Developing Funding Applications, Charity Legislation, Child Protection, First Aid, etc.

We are always looking for new members to join us and support our work in continuing to make the local community proud of their Community Centre.

Volunteering

Kirkton Community Centre relies heavily on volunteers to make the programme as diverse as possible: therefore there are always volunteering opportunities available in the Centre.  Currently we have 30 volunteers involved in all aspects of the centre programme. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or just want to find out more, please contact the Centre Manager.

Swimming Programme

Our Swimming Programme is based at Baldragon Academy. Separate swimming tuition is available for both children and adults. We also have Aqua Aerobics for adults. Please contact the Community Centre for further details.
