Summary of Training and Development for Councillors 20010/11
Information/Service?
During 2010/11, briefings and seminars were arranged for councillors on the following topics:
- treasury management
- suicide prevention
- adult support and protection
- local community planning
In addition, members of particular groups and committees such as the Dundee Partnership Forum, Licensing Board, Licensing Committee and Superannuation Sub-Committee attended specific sessions relevant to their work, on topics such as partnership working, licensing policies and procedures, landlord registration/houses in multiple occupation and superannuation.
Members also continued to pursue the issues identified in their individual Personal Development Plans, and the Council signed up to the Continuing Professional Development Framework for Elected Members. This will involve members carrying out an assessment of their strengths and areas for development, then agreeing new Personal Development Plans and addressing these by accessing a wide range of online learning resources as well as seminars, briefings, study visits etc.
