The role of the Corporate Planning Department is to provide advice and guidance to the leadership of the Council. The department leads the development of the Council Plan and ensures that plans, processes and monitoring arrangements are in place to secure best value, modernisation and continuous improvement. The department also co-ordinates the Dundee Partnership and plays a leading role in the Community Planning and Single Outcome Agreement process.  Corporate Planning staff also provide a Members Support service, including the full range of secretarial services for councillors.

Special initiatives based in Corporate Planning include the Dundee NEC Smartcard Team, Dundee's Integrated Children's Services development, Health Improvement and co-ordination of the Dundee Partnership's Financial Inclusion Strategy, while the department also leads the Dundee Partnership's response to international migration.
