The aim of the Corporate Plannning Department is to provide advice and guidance to the leadership of the Council. The department leads the development of the Council Plan and ensures that plans, processes and monitoring arrangements are in place to secure best value, modernisation and continuous improvement. The department also co-ordinates the Dundee Partnership and plays a leading role in the Community Planning process.

Corporate Planning staff provide a Members Support service, including the full range of secretarial services for councillors. The department also provides a base for officers seconded from Tayside Police and NHS Tayside, tasked with ensuring effective liaison between those organisations and the Council.

Special initiatives based in Corporate Planning include the Dundee Discovery Smartcard Team, Dundee's Integrated Children's Services development, and co-ordination of the Dundee Partnership's Financial Inclusion Strategy.
