Dundee City Council Best Value Audit
The meeting of Dundee City Council on 28 June at 6.00 pm in the City Chambers will consider the findings of the Best Value 2 Audit of the Council produced for the Accounts Commission.
The Audit assessed the Council on two broad aspects: the evidence of improvement and the processes that provide confidence that improvement will be delivered in the future. In overall terms the report is positive in tone but does note that the Council "needs to improve more quickly". It also concludes that the Council has "fair prospects for future improvement".
The Accounts Commission found the Council were making progress against clear objectives and that there has been a general improvement in overall service performance. Although concerns were expressed about some service areas, the Commission recognises the Council and its partners are addressing these issues as a matter or priority.
To improve faster the Commission found a need for a more effective embedding of continuous improvement across the Council. Elected Members need to develop their leadership of community planning and scrutiny of decision making and performance in order to drive the most efficient and effective delivery of performance.
The City Council will be considering its response and improvement plan. Members of the public are welcome, as always, to attend the meeting. Copies of the Best Value Audit and the meeting agenda are available below.
