Sun City Demonstration House

Bonnie Dundee Group assisted with the creation of a sensory garden and planted up the raised beds at the front of the house.

Sensation Science Centre ‘The Container Garden’

The group received funding from Sustain Dundee to take this project forward. Nine planters with a wide range of plants demonstrating horticultural techniques, encouraging birds and wildlife to the area have been planted up. Two of the planters are sponsored by the Ark Nursery and planted up by children.

National Spring Clean

A very wet Sunday morning did not dampen the spirits of the group who cleaned up part of the old Dens Metal site filling 9 sacks of waste and one for recycling. The remainder of the site was cleaned up by Bonnie Dundee Officers.

School Art Competitions

In partnership with the Council, City wide school competitions are organised annually to raise awareness of the Beautiful Scotland Campaign within schools.

This year, Nursery school children were asked to draw a picture of something that lives in their garden or park. Bugs, spiders, flowers and ghosts under the trampoline were just some of the pictures drawn by the children. The winner from over 200 entries was Grace Matthews from the Ark Nursery.

To help celebrate International Year of Biodiversity Primary school pupils were invited to design the front page of the portfolio illustrating any aspect of Dundee’s biodiversity. Kirsty Bell from Gowriehill Primary School was this year’s winner chosen from 400 entries.

To promote Dundee City Council scooping the CIWM Local Authority Trophy for Cleanliness in Waste Management two years running, Secondary school pupils were asked to design a poster to help keep Dundee Clean. The winning design by Melanie Tang will be displayed throughout the City on refuse collection vehicles, libraries, schools and community centres.

Please note that you can navigate backwards and forwards through the portfolio using the Left and Right mouse buttons.
