Dundee City Council and Fairtrade
Dundee City Council has a Fairtrade Policy
Dundee City Council acknowledges the importance of Fairtrade products and will support this movement through the following actions:
- Promoting awareness of Fairtrade products to departments, employees and citizens
- Including Fairtrade in our Local Agenda 21 strategy and supporting policies
- Making Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar available on request when offering Council hospitality
When requesting hospitality don't forget to ask for Fairtrade!
By participating in Fairtrade, producers are able to use the additional income to strengthen their organisations and invest in social, environmental and business improvements. They are also able to learn more about markets and take more control of their lives.
The Fairtrade mark is awarded to products sourced from the developing world that meet internationally recognised standards of fair trade.
Guarantees a better deal for Third World producers.
