Overseas Market Development Grants

Dundee City Council’s Economic Development Department operates a scheme of financial assistance in the form of a grant aimed at assisting and encouraging Dundee companies to access new overseas markets.

The scheme is available once the initial market research work has been completed and is designed to complement export assistance available from other export support organisations.

Eligible Businesses

Existing businesses employing less than 250 employees and involved in manufacturing and certain service sectors. The business must also be based or relocating within Dundee City Council boundaries.

Grant Award

Assistance is available for a maximum of two individuals per organisation, travelling, as part of the same market investigation/business is available. The grant award provides the following:

50% of eligible travel and accommodation costs for a first visit to a new overseas market.
25% of eligible travel and accommodation costs for a second visit to the same overseas market may be available.

The following conditions apply:

The grant award is based on eligible expenses
Maximum grant award is capped at £1,000
Applications for grant awards of less than £200 will not be accepted
The overseas market targeted should be a new market to the company
The applicant must cover a minimum of 50% of associated travel and accommodation costs of the trip
Applicants must provide confirmation that they are not in receipt of any other source of public sector support toward travel and accommodation costs related to the trip

Export Documentation – Certificates of Origin

The Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce provides an efficient export information service offering advice and costs your company may incur for processing Certificates of Origin to the Tayside, Angus and Perthshire areas.

The Chamber deals mainly with EC and Arab Certificates of Origin – for those companies who have heard in passing the words “Certificate of Origin” but do not know what this document is used for, here is a quick description in “plain English”:

“A Certificate of Origin is a printed form for completion by the exporter (you) or his agent and is certified by an authorised issuing body (the Chamber) certifying the origin of the goods”.
