The varied achievements of Dundee pupils, schools and staff were marked in a colourful celebration at the Caird Hall on Thursday October 23.

An audience of around 500 people attended the fifth annual Focus on Achievement awards evening which is designed to shine the spotlight on the hard work ongoing across Dundee City Council schools.

The ceremony itself saw pupils and staff recognised for efforts to improve learning and teaching in nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as awards for services to education.

Categories include academic attainment, art, music, sport, citizenship, biodiversity, multicultural education, information technology and leadership.

City council education convener Cllr Laurie Bidwell said: "I am delighted to see the range of imaginative and innovative entries for this year's Focus on Achievement awards. I am very keen that the whole city can share in the pride we all feel for the pupils, staff and schools of Dundee."
