Parent Services Development Work and Groups
Information/Service?
Development work is undertaken to strengthen the role of parents in the early years. Working in partnership with other Council departments, Health and other agencies from the private and voluntary sectors, two Parent Development Workers develop, sustain and maintain a range of universal and targeted services for parents across communities.
Services are wide ranging, change and evolve in response to need. A few examples of the types of work undertaken include:
Support Groups - for example, Babes & Co postnatal support group, Twins and Multiples Support Group, Kinship Carers Support Group and Hot Wheels-pram pushing groups.
Family Learning Workshops - for example, Dads and Kids Photo Project, Parent and Child Workshops (for example, den building, book making, puppet making, construction sessions), parent and baby Play Away sessions and toy library Come and Play sessions.
