Dundee City Council’s corporate Disability Equality and Diversity Scheme was approved at the Policy and Resources Committee of 13th November 2006, and launched at a public event on 4th December 2006 in Dundee.

The scheme outlines the Council's vision for:

preventing discrimination on the ground of discrimination
promoting equality of opportunity for disabled people
involving and consulting disabled people

The process of compiling our Disability Equality Scheme involved the council with community groups and individuals in Dundee in setting targets for a way forward. We are determined to make sure that people with disabilities can use council services as easily as possible. We will continue to look at ways of improving services for disabled people, and to encourage people with disabilities to apply for jobs with the council.

Employment monitoring by disability is a key aspect of charting our progress in our Disability Equality Scheme. Annual reports are produced to the Policy & Resources Committee and can be viewed on the Monitoring section of these pages.

EQIA – Equality Impact Assessment

Our Generic Equality and Diversity Scheme recorded an assessment of our functions and policies for adverse impact on minority groups such as disabled people. The Disability Equality Scheme includes an extracted plan for Equality Impact Assessments (EQIA) that impact on disability equality.
