Equality and Diversity: Race Equality and Diversity Scheme

The Race Equality and Diversity Scheme was approved at the Policy and Resources Committee of November 14th 2005.
The scheme outlines the Council’s vision for preventing racial discrimination, promoting race equality and diversity and promoting more effective relationships between racial groups.

A joint statement summarising the key points of our Race Equality and Diversity Scheme was agreed with NHS Tayside and Tayside Police.

A major part of our scheme involved assessing our functions and policies for adverse impact on minority ethnic communities. The scheme includes an action plan for equality impact assessments and service plan action points for the next three years.

Employment monitoring by ethnicity is a key aspect of charting our progress in our Race Equality Scheme. Annual reports are produced to the Policy & Resources Committee and can be viewed on the Monitoring section of these pages.
Council harassment procedures with trained harassment support officers are also an integral part of our commitment to race equality as an employer.
Our education department has a separate Race Equality Scheme.
