Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association New Years Day Dook 2014 125th Anniversary. The New Years Day Dook has been a tradition of the club since 1889. The event has grown considerably over the last twenty five years and is now well established as the major event on the 1st of January in Dundee, Scotland.

The event gives members of the public the opportunity to witness and to take part in the fun of the days events by taking a dip in the very chilly waters of the River Tay to recover from the previous nights celebrations! Many Dookers raise sponsorship and local and national charities benefit. Participants are now in the hundreds, with the spectators now over a few thousand and both are growing annually. In the past club volunteers have even had to break the icy water with pickaxes!! This year The Dook will take place at Broughty Ferry Harbour in Dundee, adjacent to Broughty Castle at Beach Crescent. The location of the Ye AABA Clubhouse. Prior to The Dook, which is usually started by Dundee's Lord Provost and the Club President Joyce McIntosh Dundee's Citizen of the Year, 2013, there will be the judging of the increasingly elaborate fancy dress parade before The Dookers are piped into the water by The Boys Brigade 44th Company.

The club are confident of exceeding the 400 Dookers that took part last year and are looking to build on that number, by the year 2017, to enter the World Guinness Book of Records as 'The Largest Dook' in the World on the 1st January by trying to attract 1,000 dookers.
