The Fair Trade mark is awarded to products sourced from the developing world that meet internationally recognised standards of fair trade. These ensure that producers get a fair price for their products to support their families and invest in their businesses and community improvements.
Dundee City Council aims to increase the use of fairly traded products and raise awareness of fair trade. Its policy commitments include:
- to solely serve fair trade tea and coffee at Council meetings and when offering Council hospitality
- to increase the number of fair trade schools
- to publicise Dundee's status as a fair trade city
For more details, see the link to our Fairtrade Policy above.
As part of its committment to Fair Trade, Dundee City Council helps to promote Fair Trade Fortnight, which in 2014 is focussing on fair trade bananas.
The Dundee Fair Trade Forum keeps a list of local Fair Trade suppliers, so please contact the Forum directly through the link above if you would like further information or to be added to their list.
