I am looking to buy a dog as a pet, where can I get one?

Dundee City Council's Environmental Health and Trading Standards Department runs a facility called Brown Street Kennels - view Brown Street Kennels' website.

Every year about 200 dogs are successfully rehomed from the kennels, but it's not just a case of a dog being handed in one day and passed on to a new owner the next. For example, bitches are often spayed before being rehomed, and an assessment is made of potential new owners to ensure they are responsible people able to give the animals the attention they need and deserve. A charge is made to cover kennel costs.

The City Council has a non-destruction policy which means that the only dogs ever put down are those that are either very ill or aggressive and difficult, if not impossible to rehome.
