  • Apply for Rates Remission (142KB MS Word Form)
    Organisations with charitable status can qualify for 80% Mandatory Relief where their premises are used wholly or mainly for charitable purposes. Any club, society or organisation, not established or conducted for profit, and wholly or mainly used for recreation, can also apply. 
     
  • Apply for Hardship Relief (98KB MS Word Form)
    A rating authority may, at its discretion, grant relief from rates to both occupied and unoccupied properties, if that authority feels that the rate payer will sustain hardship if the authority does not do so.  This term 'hardship' is not confined to financial hardship, all circumstances are considered in judging whether the payment of rates will cause 'hardship'.

    Relief of rates under the terms of the Rating (Disabled Persons) Act 1978 can be granted in respect of premises used for the needs of disabled persons
     
  • Apply for Empty Property Relief  (93KB MS Word Form) 
     
  • Apply for Relief for Part-Occupied Property (318KB MS Word Form)
    Relief of Rates under the terms of Section 24a of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1966 can be granted where a property is part-occupied for a short time only with the intention to re-occupy.
     
  • Renewable Energy Generation Relief Scheme Application Form (335KB MS Word Form)
    Relief to renewable energy producers who are solely concerned with the production of heat or power (or both) from the following sources:- biomass, biofuels, fuel cells, photovoltaics, water (including waves and tides, but excluding production from the pumped storage of water), wind, solar power, geothermal sources.  For further information regarding the scheme, please visit the Scottish Government website.
     
  • Apply for Deferral scheme 2012-13 (59KB PDF)
    Under this scheme rate paying businesses in Scotland will be able to defer payment of part of the increase in their 2012-13 business rates bills as a result of the 5.6% increase in the poundage until 2013-14 and 2014-15. In practice this deferred amount is equal to 3.2% of the 2012-13 bill, which will be repaid half in 2013-14 and half in 2014-15.
