Joint Statement from 8th GDCN Meeting, Dundee, Scotland
Recommendations Agreed at Meeting held on 30th August 2007
Recommendation 1
That Westchester, invited to participate in the 8th General Meeting by the Gold Coast, is proposed as a new member to the GDCN network.
Recommendation 2
That the GDCN website is re-established and that Kakamigahara undertakes this on behalf of the partnership. That each member city gives a commitment to ensuring this is kept up to date with current information via the secretariat and each city provides a contact name for this role.
Recommendation 3
Increasing the contact and collaboration between our businesses and institutions remains a key objective of the network, therefore in order to assist this, business partnering should become an element of each Annual General meeting.
Linked to this, as an additional tool, each city is requested to consider the proposal to joint the US Channels project (information provided to each city) and that this is considered in the next 8 weeks from the Dundee meeting. Comments and consideration from each city are to be emailed to the secretariat and Gold Coast in order to progress this.
Recommendation 4
It is proposed that the 9th meeting take place in Westchester, USA in 2008.
Recommendation 5
It is also recommended that the meeting in 2010 takes place in Chuncheon in Korea.
Recommendation 6
That the presentation from each city at the general meting focuses on the key strength of the host city and that this area for discussion is communicated at the earliest stage possible in order that related companies can also be encouraged to attend.
Recommendation 7
Logan City is invited to attend the 2008 GDCN meeting with a view to membership.
