Doors Open Day in Dundee takes place every year and celebrates the annual European Heritage Days event, involving thousands of buildings in about 50 countries opening free of charge during each weekend in September.
The buildings participating are chosen for their historic, architectural, industrial or technological interest. Some buildings host special events, and may have organised tours which must be booked in advance.
Dundee’s Doors Open Day is organised by Dundee Historic Environment Trust, for Dundee City Council, with assistance from many organisations and individuals.
Information on the forthcoming Doors Open Day can be found on Dundee Historic Environment Trust’s website. For specific questions about the event please contact the Trust’s Director, Adam Swan on 01382 902244.

A series of lectures covering a number of conservation issues, offering an opportunity to learn more about, and debate, philosophical, practical, legislative and technical matters. These lectures are intended to assist those with CPD requirements (responsibility for judging relevance lies with the individual), and also form part of the M.Sc. Degree in European Urban Conservation at the University of Dundee. They also provide a good opportunity for meeting with others working in the conservation field and for networking.
The double lectures normally take place on Tuesday evenings at 6.00pm (please check dates and times as these may vary) from October to March each year at the University of Dundee (Duncan of Jordanstone College). Expert speakers in their field cover topics including architectural history, planning, urban regeneration, townscape, traditional materials, industrial archaeology, landscape design, building types, world conservation and sustainability.
The series is organised by the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland, in conjunction with the Centre for Conservation and Urban Studies, University of Dundee. Dundee City Council’s City Development Department is one of the sponsors for the series. An up-to-date timetable is available at Dundee Conservation Lectures.
