In 2008 the Housing Department was inspected by the Scottish Housing Regulator and their final report was published in March 2009. There were a number of issues raised by the Regulator and we are required to address these before they return to us within the next 2 years.

We take all of the issues raise very seriously indeed and have set up a Best Value Housing Review Group. The group will oversee the development of an Improvement Plan (300KB PDF) designed to implement the recommendations made by the Regulator.

The group is chaired by the council's Chief Executive and includes:

• Elected members from each political party
• Tenants Representatives
• An Independent Tenant Adviser
• Senior staff from the Housing and Finance Departments and Dundee Contract Services
• Trade Union representatives
• Shelter
• Other Council employees as the group sees fit
• The group may also commission expert advisers to provide assistance in developing improvement proposals
