TV Licensing
Information/Service?
TV Licensing would like to ensure that people in Dundee are aware that if they receive or record television programmes as they are being broadcast in the UK, they have a legal responsibility to have a valid TV Licence.
This is the case whether you are watching on a TV or any other device, such as a mobile phone or a PC. If you don’t have a TV Licence, you could risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000. However, TV Licensing understands that some people find it hard to pay the annual fee of £142.50 for a colour TV, or £48 for a black and white TV Licence, in one go.
There are a number of ways to spread the cost, for example using the Cash Payment Plan, which is a weekly payment scheme, or using a TV Licensing savings card, both of which can be paid for at PayPoint outlets. You can also pay by Direct Debit, via our website, using a debit or credit card over the phone, or simply popping a cheque in the post.
Don’t forget that if you are aged 75 or over, you are eligible for a free licence, with short term licenses available for people aged 74.
Anyone who is blind is entitled to 50% off the licence fee.
If English isn’t your first language, then TV Licensing offers literature in 21 different languages and a phone interpretation service in over 150 languages. To use the translation service, please call 0300 790 6044.
If you would like more information, or to buy a licence, please call 0300 790 6071 or visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk.
