TV Licensing
TV Licensing would like to ensure that people in Dundee are aware that if they receive or record television programmes as they are being broadcast in the UK, they have a legal responsibility to have a valid TV Licence.
This is the case whether you are watching on a TV or any other device, such as a mobile phone or a PC. If you don’t have a TV Licence, you could risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000. However, TV Licensing understands that some people find it hard to pay the annual fee of £139.50 for a colour TV, or £47 for a black and white TV Licence, in one go.
There are a number of ways to spread the cost, for example using the Cash Payment Plan, which is a weekly payment scheme, or using a TV Licensing savings card, both of which can be paid for at PayPoint outlets. You can also pay by Direct Debit, via our website, using a debit or credit card over the phone, or simply popping a cheque in the post.
Don’t forget that if you are aged 75 or over, you are eligible for a free licence, with short term licenses available for people aged 74.
Anyone who is blind is entitled to 50% off the licence fee.
If English isn’t your first language, then TV Licensing offers literature in 21 different languages and a phone interpretation service in over 150 languages. To use the translation service, please call 0844 800 6728.
If you would like more information, or to buy a licence, please call 0844 800 6737 or visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk.
