Housing Repair Priorities
The Housing Department provides a comprehensive repairs service. To report a repair you should contact our Housing Repairs Centre on 434343. You can also report repairs at your Housing Office or online. When you report a repair please give us as much detail as possible. We will give you a reference number and will tell you how long the job will take.
We carry out more than 70,000 jobs a year, nearly 1,400 a week. We group the work into categories so that we can plan our work efficiently and get the best value for money. Each category has a priority and a timescale for completion of the work. Below is a list of the most common repairs we undertake in the repairs service. This will give you an idea of how long a particular repair is likely to take.
- Out of Hours Emergencies
- Daytime Emergencies
- Weekend Emergencies
- Quick Fix Repairs
- Routine Repairs
- Non-Routine Repairs
Access Arrangements
We try to arrange access to carry out the work at the tenant’s convenience. If you wish the work to be carried out on a specific day, you should let us know and we will try to accommodate your request. Since emergencies are undertaken within 24 hours we will try to accommodate an AM or PM call on the day you request the repair. If this is unsuitable, we can defer the repair to the following day provided we gain access to complete the repair within 24 hours of you requesting it. For Quick Fix repairs we require 48 hours notice for a specific appointment. For Routine and Non-Routine repairs we require 5 days notice for a specific appointment. If your circumstances change, just let us know and we can make alternative arrangements with you. If we are not able to attend on a date agreed with you, we will contact you in advance and re-arrange the appointment.
