Housing Options in Dundee - Types of housing we rent
Dundee City Council has a range of properties across the city, including the following:
Mainstream housing
- All types of housing which are unfurnished and not sheltered or adapted.
Sheltered housing
- Housing which is located mostly on the ground or 1st floor (unless serviced by a lift), receiving warden and emergency community alarm services.
- These houses are for applicants or their spouse/partners aged 60 years or over.
Very sheltered housing and housing with care
- Very sheltered housing is designed to meet the needs of frail older people who require additional support to live independently (the provision of meals etc).
- Housing with care is for individuals who require care and support to maintain their independence. In housing with care an on-site care team is there to provide necessary care and support to tenants.
Disabled adapted housing
- If you have very specific health needs (e.g. rampable access to your property or a level access shower) and your own house cannot be adapted to suit your requirements, you may be considered for specially adapted housing.
Multi flat
- Accommodation all on one level internally, in a multi storey block with lift access
Flats
- 4 in a block - accommodation all on one level internally, it can be situated on the ground or first floor without a close entry, in a block of 4 flats.
- 4 in a close - accommodation all on one level internally, it can be situated on the ground or first floor with a close entry, in a block of 4 flats
- Tenement - accommodation all on one level internally, it can be situated on the ground, 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor with a close entry.
Maisonette
- Accommodation which has internal stairs to bedrooms or living room, it can be located on any floor within a block.
Cottage
- Accommodation can be a detached, semi detached or a terraced house
