Literacies Outreach and Accreditation Team

The Literacies Outreach and Accreditation Team works throughout all of Dundee's local communities to bring help with reading, writing, numbers and first qualifications.

Help for adults who want to have better reading, writing or number skills

We work with individuals and very small groups. Everyone who works with us has their own personal plan of what they want to change about their reading, writing or numbers and why it is important to them.

We try our best to meet at a place and time that suits and we understand that adults often have to fit their learning around many other things.

Usually we meet for 1-2 hours a week.

Help for staff whose jobs involve them supporting clients or customers with literacies needs

We provide specialist tailor-made training to help staff understand the range and nature of literacies needs and how they can find support locally.

It is possible for us to provide direct literacy support to small groups of clients or customers and we can give initial tutor training in adult literacies to staff who would like to co-work with one of our experienced literacies tutors.

Help for employers who want to bring literacies learning into the workplace

We know that changes in the workplace can mean there are changes in the demands made on employees' reading, writing or number skills.

Our team members can work with you to devise tailor-made learning programmes with negotiated times and venues.

Help with accreditation and first qualifications

Throughout all our learning and training programmes we can offer accreditation.

We support adult learners who want to gain their first qualification in reading, writing or numbers by offering SQA Core Skills Units.

Staff who undertake training with ourselves can have the option of completing an SQA Professional Development Award.
