Brief History of the Area
The community of Fintry was developed after the Second World War and comprises of mainly terraced and semi-detached houses with tenement flats to the south, west, north and east boundaries. The housing was originally developed by Dundee Corporation and has seen a number of changes in ownership over the years. First the Scottish Special Housing Association took over the operation of the houses and then subsequently transferred them in 1997 to Abertay Housing Association. Abertay has initiated a phased development of new housing in the north of Fintry which will see an additional 200 units completed by 2006.
