Mill O Mains - Soft Statistics and Funding Allocation

At the most recent census the Dalclaverhouse area had a population of 1,147although this will have grown with the expansion in the number of houses in the area. The Mill O Mains areas has 1,151 residents at the last census although this number will have dropped because of the demolition of some of the properties. Click on the image at the top right-hand corner to view a map of the area.
As a result of investigation into a new system of statistics to keep updated information following the census system, a new process was created by the Scottish Government. This identified 6,500 data zones that cover Scotland and provide comparative data. Mill O Mains and the Orchard Court data zones identified that the residents there were within the worst 15% of areas in Scotland, although Orchard Court appears to not fit into the typical statistics seen in an area of deprivation. However this allows both Mill O Mains and the Orchard Court area of Dalclaverhouse to be eligible for Community Regeneration Funding as part of the north east cluster (which includes Fintry and Whitfield).
