Whitfield - Public Services and Resources
The Whitfield area contains the Braeview and St Saviours secondary schools. In addition there are Longhaugh, Newfields, Whitfield and St Lukes and St Matthews Primary schools. Click on the image at the top right-hand corner to view a map of the area.
In terms of pre-five services the Whitfield Community Early Years centre and Longhaugh nursery school provide services for children before they get to school. In addition Whitfield Family Support Centre provide a range of support services for families and young children.
Whitfield Community Centre, which is an independent community centre with its own board of management, provides a wide scope of activities for pre-school, primary school and teenagers. In addition a lunch club is provided for the over 50s as well as a number of adult learning opportunities. The complex also provides a base for the Healthy Living Initiative which in partnership with WAC and local residents, operates a number of keep-fit classes. A café/takeaway service is also provided from the premises at WAC.
The Whitfield Health Centre operates a range of clinics including chiropody, paediatrics, ophthalmic and dentistry. In addition Doctor Raj has a GP surgery operating from the same premises. The Community Services Complex is a base for the Housing Department and the Communities Department's North East Development Team. Tayside Police has a presence at Longhaugh which covers the east of the city.
