16-24 Youth Literacy

The 16-24 Literacy Project offers a range of provision for young people aged up to 24 years old who would like to improve their reading, writing, spelling or number skills. 16-24 has different groups on offer each week and also a team of qualified tutors who work one to one with young people on their literacy/numeracy skills. There is also the opportunity to work towards qualifications or awards and support for moving on to college, training or work.

Group Work

Here are some of our regular groups:

  • Reading Group
Supported reading group using Big Plus audio books and MP3 players
  • Arts Action Group
The Arts Action Group looks at global issues and creates artwork that reflects your views. Come along and learn new art skills, e.g. printmaking, drawing, comic strips, animation and web design
  • Young Mums Group
A practical course for pregnant or young mums offering support in dealing with essential information about pregnancy and childcare
  • Film Critics Group
Watch new films at the Odeon Cinema. Discuss and type up reviews in the IT Suite at The Factory Skatepark. Reviews are posted on the Young Scot website.

Other groups are available at different times. Information and up to date timetables are available on the Discover Learning website.

One to One Support

Work with a tutor to improve your skills in any of the following areas:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spelling
