Dead AuthorsWelcome to the dead authors society. We will be highlighting a few well known and not so well known authors who have died during a specific month. We will, where possible, provide names of other authors, living or dead, who write in a similar style, providing you with possible new options to try out.

Dead Authors March Titles Sir Arthur Charles Clarke (Born: 16-12-1917 Died: 19-03-2008) This Somerset born author achieved his greatest fame in 1968 when his short story The Sentinel was turned into the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. He was the author of more than 100 fiction and non-fiction books, and his writings are credited by many observers with giving science fiction a human and practical face. Some of his best known work include: Rendezvous With Rama, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Obsolescence of Man (“Machina ex Deus”), Childhood's End, Summertime on Icarus and The Steam-Powered Word Processor.

Robert Ludlum (Born: 25-05-1927 Died: 12-03-2001) Best known as an American thriller writer, Ludlum started his literary career relatively late, after working in the theatre, both as actor and producer. There are more than 290 million copies of his books in print, and they have been translated into 32 languages. Ludlum also published books under the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd. Some of his best know works include: The Scarlatti Inheritance, The Apocalypse Watch, The Holcroft Covenant, The Matarese Circle and the novels featuring character Jason Bourne.
