Dundee Library & Information Services  This is a service provided by the Leisure and Communities Department     Launch Team Read – this year’s Summer Reading Scheme was launched by Councillor Richard McCready, Convenor of Leisure, Arts and Communities Department at Rowantree Primary School. Children from Primaries 3 and 4 were told about Team Read by staff from two of the City’s Community Libraries. Both classes then had fun with word squares, colouring sheets and listening to a story. Under guidance of staff from the Youth Sports Development Team they took part in a football activity in the gym hall. The success of the launch was summed up in the words of the Primary 4 Teacher who described it as: “Fabulous and that it was thoroughly enjoyed by all her pupils…” Team Read is a free reading challenge for children aged 4–12 years. • It is taking place in all libraries and the mobile library in Dundee. • It starts on Wednesday 25th June with the launch at Rowantree Primary School and runs through the summer holidays finishing on Saturday 30th August. • To join go to your local library fill in the registration card and select two books. When you return you will receive your membership card, fold out stadium poster and your bronze level stickers. Continue reading and collecting your silver and gold stickers. After you have read six books you will become a Team Read Champion and be awarded your special certificate and invited to a local Medal Presentation Ceremony. • You can also enter into the Reading Challenge competitions. Collect a competition sheet from your local library or click on the thumbnails below. The closing date for all entries is Saturday 16th August. 7 & Under 8 & Over 8 & Over   • If you are under four do not worry you are not left out you can enter our special Team Read Bookcrawl. Simply collect a sticker for each borrowing visit to the library. When you have collected six stickers you will be awarded an exclusive certificate for completing the Team Read Bookcrawl.
