Parades and Processions
Community Involvement
The legislation governing public processions has changed. The Council must keep a list of processions held or prohibited (120KB MS Word doc) in the area and a list of current notifications (43.5KB MS Word doc). These arrangements are to allow the public to find out which marches happen regularly and which ones are likely to happen in the future in order that they can make representations if they wish to.
Should you wish to make representations to any of the notifications on the proposed list, please do so by email to elsie.burnett@dundeecity.gov.uk alternatively by post to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services), 21 City Square, Dundee, DD1 3BY. Representations must be lodge within 14 days of the date of receipt of the notification.
Making a Notification
Organisers of processions now need to give 28 days notice. The Council can either require a notification to go through the full process (405KB PDF) on page 60 or the fast track process. It is envisaged that the majority of notifications will be dealt with under the fast track process.
- Download a Notice of Proposal to Hold a Public Procession notification form (72KB PDF)
- If your event is to start or finish in City Square, download a Notice of Proposal to Hold a Public Procession and Use of City Square notification form (75.6 KB PDF)
Consultation
The Council has a list of bodies (19.5KB MS Word doc) with which it will consult.
If you wish to be added to the list please send an email to elsie.burnett@dundeecity.gov.uk. For further information on parades in Scotland please go to the Scottish Government website and search under marches and parades.
