The Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages must register the death within eight days. A death that happens within Scotland must be registered in Scotland. The following web pages provide more information regarding what documents you must take and things the registrar will need to know.

Arranging the funeral

Start planning the funeral as soon as possible. However, you should not make final funeral arrangements if the death has to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal, as the date the funeral can be held may be affected.
