takin over the asylum
An exciting opportunity to see the work of artist Janice Aitken, a film created in response to 'Takin over the Asylum' which was a Dundee Rep Community Company project involving a week long residency at R.D.L.H during mental health week. High profile artists facilitated a variety of arts based workshops in a disused ward providing opportunities to explore and express feelings, views, ideas and opinions about mental health issues. The ward was transformed into a completely different world using beds, walls, floor and ceilings. At the end of the week an audience were invited to tour the space and watch two drama performances.

complementary film season
@ dca cinema

DCA cinema has selected a film season to complement the exhibition. The seven films selected span the 20th century from the 1930s through to the beginning of the new millennium. All of them deal with the issue of mental health problems in society, and they do so in a wide range of styles and genres - every single film is a true classic in its own right. Short films by Dundee based filmmaking group, Luna, will be screened with three titles.
