hospital history:
New facilities- Carseview

On 28th May 2001 a new mental health facility opened adjacent to Ninewells to replace the parts of Liff Hospital that were being closed. With the growth of care in the community, less residential capacity has been provided and the facility is meant for short-stay patients. Carseview can take up to 60 patients and the remaining wards at Liff Hospital have capacity for 50. For the present, Liff is responsible for old age psychiatry, long stay care and rehabilitation. This will change in the future as the remaining parts of Liff are due to be closed.
