turning life into fiction
adult creative writing workshop
with Delia Gallagher
2 - 4pm
free

How do you turn the funny incident or sad event that happened to you into something that other people will want to read? When we write about real events in our life it's easy to get bogged down in telling the exact ‘truth’ or worry about what people will think of us. The workshop will look at some of the ways you can fictionalise real events to make your story stronger.

What is it that keeps your mental health in good shape and improves it? This workshop is designed to look at simple strategies for the promotion of positive mental health.
A brief discussion will be followed by a session creating symbols and packaging them in jewel like boxes for giving to you or your loved ones. You may decide that your gift will be a gossamer cloak of protection or a time of peace and restoration. Whatever it is we will find ways of symbolising it and gift wrapping it. For families with children 8 years and over.
