The planetarium is based around a Viewlex Apollo projector, which simulates the night sky on a domed roof in a darkened room. Around 1000 stars are displayed, along with the naked eye planets and the Milky Way. Auxiliary units simulate a rotating galaxy and provide pictures of astronomical objects. Seating is limited to 18 for public shows. However, school classes of up to 45 primary and 30 secondary grade pupils can be accommodated by arrangement, using a temporary inflatable dome when necessary.

Check out the events page to see the programme of public Planetarium Shows that take place during the winter months (October to March). To book a public or group show contact (01382) 435967.
