Kemback Street New Consultation Proposal
Convener of social work and health Councillor Ken Lynn is confirming that a new consultation is being proposed for service users of Kemback Street adult resource centre.
A report to be considered by councillors on Monday February 25 will recommend the council runs a fresh consultation.
Councillor Lynn said: “To avoid any uncertainty that a prolonged legal procedure would inevitably mean for service users and their families, I am proposing that the social work and health committee agrees to carry out a new consultation about the future of Kemback Street adult resource centre. In the meantime, the centre will remain open.
“My ambition is to bring about more flexibility to the kind of support available to adults with learning disabilities in the city and ensure this is more personalised to the needs of the individual.
“This can mean more support in the community or continued day care support.
"I believe that giving people more choice to build the care package they need is the right direction to take and will improve their quality of life.”
If the proposal on Monday February 25 is agreed, a report would come to the committee on March 25 regarding the proposed consultation procedure.
