Care Services Consultation
Around 100 new accommodation with care services are set to be established in Dundee as a result of a new social work and housing initiative.
Accommodation with care services will provide older people with a range of care and support responses to meet their individual needs. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that housing is appropriately adapted to help people remain as independent as possible. It will provide more services than sheltered housing can, but people still have their own independent home.
Older people and carers are being invited to contribute their views about what these services should be like at two special consultation sessions to be held in the Marryat Hall, Dundee on Monday May 12.
The consultation is open to people who might need services now or in the future.
Dundee Celebrating Age Network, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers Centre and Alzheimer's Scotland, Dundee, are encouraging older people and carers to come along to these events.
Dundee's older people's champion and social work and health convener Councillor Helen Wright also urged older people and their carers to attend the Marryat Hall consultation.
She said: "This public consultation is an opportunity for older people and carers to find out more and contribute to plans to provide 100 accommodation with care services within Dundee.
"We are particularly interested in finding out what older people think these services should look like. By finding out more about how accommodation with care can help, people will have their say about how their needs can be met now and in the future."
People thinking of contributing to the discussion will have a choice of sessions to attend: either 11am to 1.30pm or 6pm to 8pm.
To book a place at one of the above sessions, contact Ann Conway on 01382 438385 or email ann.conway@dundeecity.gov.uk
Closing date for registration forms is Tuesday May 6 and if anyone is unable to attend due to caring responsibilities or transport difficulties, the social work department might be able to help.
