Housing Survey Starts

A survey of housing in Dundee organised by the city council is under way.

Questionnaires are being sent out to 10,000 households in the city and surrounding areas and people who complete the survey have a chance to win £100.

The council wants to hear from as many local residents as possible, including people who own or rent, people living in large or small houses, regardless of whether they feel they are in housing need.  The study will be looking at the need for affordable housing in the city and surrounding areas including council and housing association housing and affordable homes to buy.

The survey is being carried out by Craigforth Consultants and the results of the research will be used by the council to decide how best to meet housing needs in the city.  It's expected that the outcomes of this research will be available in the autumn.

Housing convenor Councillor George Regan said: "Residents' views are vital to this study and it is important to us that as many people fill in the survey as possible so that the council can ensure that decisions about meeting housing need are based on sound information.

"The council started preparations for this study late last year and it reflects our commitment to ensuring the best quality of housing is provided for the citizens of Dundee."
