New Payment Line

Payments to Dundee City Council have become even easier with the introduction of a new service.

A dedicated, 24-hour automated telephone payment line has been set up to increase the flexibility of service that the council offers to the public for making payments to it.

Senior councillor with responsibility for finance, Joe Morrow, said: "We appreciate that a proportion of our customers may, for example, be shift workers and may not have access to the internet so this new initiative that operates both day and night will help them."

The 24-hour payment line is being introduced initially for all housing rents and revenues payments (Council Tax, consolidated debt, Housing Benefit overpayment, and non-domestic rates). However, it is hoped that the service will be rolled out corporately over the next few months, giving customers a similar service to that of internet payments taken via the council's website.

City council housing convener Councillor George Regan said: "The 24-hour payment line not only provides a better service for the customer, it constitutes a saving to the council, providing Dundonians with both increased efficiency and effectiveness of service."

The payment line number is 0845 602 6943.
